In 2026, Ruhr Oel Refinery became a proud member of the Klesch Group, an independent, global company that has specialised in the safe and efficient operation of refineries. The Klesch Group, founded in 1990 by A. Gary Klesch, pursues a strategy of long-term value creation through targeted investments, operational excellence and the commercial optimisation of industrial assets.
In addition to Ruhr Oel Refinery, the Klesch Group also operates Heide refinery in Germany and Kalundborg Refinery in Denmark. Both sites are notable for their reliability, efficiency and deep-rooted connections to their local communities.

Heide Refinery
The refinery in Northern Germany has been a part of Klesch Group since 2010 and each year processes up to 4 million tonnes of crude oil.
Their production of aviation fuel covers almost all flights from Hamburg airport, and production of fuel oil secures heating for more than 250,000 houses between Flensburg and Hamburg.
Kalundborg Refinery
Kalundborg Refinery has been part of the Klesch Group since 2022 and is the largest refinery in Denmark.
With an annual processing capacity of 5.5 million tonnes of crude oil and other feedstocks, it primarily supplies markets in Scandinavia and North-West Europe. Its main products include propane, butane, petrol, diesel and heating oil. With around 400 employees, it is a significant employer in the region.
